Rocking Out on My Corner of Katy

Come Saturday, these slabs of flagstone will be
transformed into flooring in the courtyard.

Farewell, bare dirt, I will not miss you.

While the contractors are working their magic in the courtyard,
I'll be endeavoring to create a low retaining wall around the willow oak.
These moss rock pieces are pretty substantial and I won't be
surprised if I have to avail myself of the contractors' services
in that area as well.

This is a shot of what I should be seeing plenty of today and tomorrow: bluebonnets and other wildflowers. I'm off to spend some time in Round Top with my traveling buddies Genny and Laura, visiting the numerous antique and junk dealers and artisans participating in one of the most time-honored rites of spring in this part of Texas. Catch y'all later!

I have a serious case of rock & stone envy. Your courtyard is going to be so beautiful.

Last weekend in Warrenton I found some great deals on pottery and other great stuff for my garden. I also bought some native plants from a woman in Round Top. Happy shopping!

Oh, I wish I had that being put down in my yard! I'm tired of the dirt and sunflowers growing up from the bird feeders. Can't wait to see the photos of what you'll end up with!

I've been taking pictures of the demolition, although I missed getting one of the courtyard full or rubble. I'll document the whole process in my next post. I've gotta say, these guys are hard workers. They were here until 7:30 last night.

I thought about going back over to Round Top/Warrenton today because I missed so many dealers. I'll wait until fall, though ... I'd rather be here rocking out!

Hi Cindy, hope you had fun in Round Top. I would definitely have the contractors do the tree wall too. They can do it so much faster and since they will already be there, why not? Looking forward to seeing both projects all finished and fine looking. :-)

I think flagstone is the best courtyard material; it is what we have and I love it. Classy and I like seeing a little green in between the stones.
