Through the Garden Gate: Monday, August 10th

At 8:10 p.m, with the light fading and the day almost gone, I finally made it outside to grab a couple of shots for this week's TTGG post. If you look at last week's post and then at this one, you'll note the cleaned up vitex. The Head Gardener removed all those suckers and shoots along the trunk and limbs. I'm much happier with the way the vitex looks now so I guess it's staying, at least until I get unhappy with it again or I give in to one of those sudden urges to redo an entire area.

I zoomed in on this portion of the garden to see what might show up ... I like the way the Taro in the bog stands out against the fence.

And as the the light continues to slip away, I aim the lens at the gazing globe and capture the sunset.

The Vitex does look a lot better. I hope you do keep it so I can enjoy it vicariously. I really like them. Your Taro is amazing! Bog living is definitely to its liking.
This and very early morning are my favorite time of day in the garden. Can you believe the days are getting shorter? Just a month it would be sunny at 8:00 in the evening.
The vitex does look better. Your salvias really look good.
Have a great weekend Cindy.

Cindy...Love the gazing globe sunset! It's dazzling. I do like Vitex...Yours looks much better limbed up! It's funny I dug out my under-performing Vitex...bad drainage/not enough sun and replaced it with Tiger's Eye Sumac. We'll see how it does! gail

Wow - Cindy -- that's awesome how you caught the sunset in the gazing globe! Very cool. Glad you got your Vitex cleaned up -- they are great but they can be a lot of work because they grow so much!

I love the blooms on the Vitex but it's an alarmingly fast grower. 5 days later, there are new leaves everywhere I pruned along those trunks! We'll see if I resist the urge to let the Head Gardener run wild with the reciprocating saw!
