October 2010: Now Blooming on My Corner of Katy

It's Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day, the creation of Carol at May Dreams Gardens, and I've spent all day outside again.  Yesterday I pruned the Turks' Caps down to the ground, leaving a few in one area for the hummers.  Today I started the process of digging daylilies from the soon to be redesigned daylily bed, which will become more of a meadow border.  By the time I called it quits for the day, I only had a small window of opportunity (WOO, as Carol calls it ... the woman does love her acronyms) for picture taking.  That was cut short by the determined efforts of the mosquitoes, which are all too prevalent despite the lack of rain.  Time is of the essence if I want to get a good night's sleep before I leave for a beach weekend with my WOW pals (WOW is short for Women of W[h]ine).  So I beg your kind indulgence for indulging in no further ado.  I give you a few of the blooms of Wit's End (some of them stressed by the lack of rain).

Calliandra
Rose 'Heritage'

Coral Vine: Pink and White
The Symphyotricum formerly known as Aster oblongifolius
Cassia splendida
Rose 'La Marne'
Shasta Daisy 'Daisy May', New from Proven Winners
Pink Skullcap (Scutellaria)
Shrimp Plant, Pink aka Fruit Cocktail (Justicia spp.)
Toad Lilies (Tricyrtis)

Ooh, look, you have the dwarf powderpuff! I posted that one in my GBBD post too. You have beautiful flowers, and what a stunning rose! I love that photo of the toad lilies with the toads. : )
Everything is lovely! Your coral vine is so pale and delicate, the obnoxious vibrant hot pink one showed up in my garden...on it's own. Love the frogs too!

Lovely blooms in your corner. The coral vine is a winner.Lots of color. Not so much in my neck of the woods, but is great to see everywhere else.

You must be as fond of pink as I am, Cindy:) Lovely blooms! The coral vine and calliandra are really striking.
The pink is so cool and restful-looking. I am keeping my fingers crossed for rain -- I saw clouds on the horizon over to the west today.

Your lovely garden looks like a mix of summer and fall to me. So much still blooming, even during your drought!

Thanks, y'all! There are still some lovelies blooming despite the lack of rain but the foliage on most everything looks very sad!

How pretty everything looks for GBBD, Cindy! Everything from the roses to the coral vine is in harmony.
I've killed a few hot pink coral vines and not been too sad about it, but that creamy white one makes me want to try again!
