My Eyes! My Eyes!

I'm pretty sure this color combination qualifies as what my wonderful friend Gail of Clay and Limestone refers to as "Clown Pants".  Screaming yellow Texas Buttercups (Ranunculus macranthera), hot pink Toadflax (Linaria maroccana), Johnny Jump-Ups (Viola cornuta) and Lady in Red Salvia (Salvia coccinea) do not a felicitous combination make.  They certainly are eye-catching, though!

I don't mind these clown pants. The combo made me smile especially since my landscape is white.

Have enjoyed looking at your pics! We have eliminated grass on our half+ acre in Virginia, but our yard is mostly shady and so the look is very different. Let's hear it for plants - not grass!

I like the red and yellow, or the hot pink and yellow with the violas. It's the hot pink and red that don't play well together. But I'm with Layanee: in a winter wonderland, any color is refreshing!

I prefer "kaleidoscope." I love it! I've managed to plant orange cosmos and pomegranate near pink roses. Talk about yer clown pants - the ladies that shop for gaudy capri pants at Stein Mart would be proud of that combo!

...and don't forget those orange butterfly weeds in the background to round out the color wheel.
So, have any of your butterflies complained? What? Not a single one?
:0) I'm thinking they are delighted by the clown pants gardens we have when compared to the rows of carpet grass turf pants gardens that offer nary a drop of nectar.

Is the toadflax just the native one? I have it show up every year but it is tiny. Would love to have larger flowers like yours.
